MINTY DAL

Tired of the same old dal recipe everyday?This recipe is a wonderful alternative to the regular dal we make at home.The light flavour of mint adds a great taste to the dal.



INGREDIENTS

Yellow moong dal -1 cup
Onion - 1 medium chopped
Tomato - 1 medium chopped
Garlic - 3 to 4 cloves crushed
Dry red chilly - 4 to 5
Fennel seeds - 2 teaspoons
Mint - 10 to 12 leaves
Water - to get the required consistency 
Oil - 1 tablespoons
Salt - to taste

METHOD

Wash moong dal and keep aside.Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add garlic, dry red chilly and fennel seeds ,saute for 2 seconds. Add chopped onion ,fry till it gets cooked. Add tomatoes to this and cook till tomato turns soft and mushy. Add washed moong dal ,salt and water. Add mint leaves on top of this. Mix well close the pressure cooker and cook for 3 whistles. Switch off the stove and let it rest until all pressure goes away. Open the pressure cooker lid.Give it a stir. If you think your dal is too watery then cook uncovered on medium flame for some more time until you get the required consistency you want.

NOTE:
You can increase /decrease the amount of dry red chilly according to your taste.
